How does a browser become a player?
In three steps. At the screen itself you only type in an address once.
Create a player
In the management console you create a player and choose where it gets its content: AIO Hub, DOOH Hub or an address of your own.
Copy the link
Every player gets its own link. It works without signing in, never expires and can be blocked or replaced at any time.
Open it on the screen
Open the link in the browser of the computer behind the screen. It already ends in “?kiosk=1”, so all toolbars disappear and the playlist fills the screen.
What can Web Player do?
It plays the same playlists as a hardware player, with schedules, multiple zones and widgets. On top of that it does what a screen running around the clock needs.
Keep your CMS as it is
Content from AIO Hub or DOOH Hub
When you create a player, you pick the provider from a list. For any other system that delivers SMIL, you enter the address yourself.
Behaves like a device
Towards your CMS, Web Player identifies itself as a standard, AIO, Garlic or IAdea player. In AIO Hub it appears in the player list with a code and is assigned like any other device.
Credentials stay on the server
Keys in the provider address never reach the browser at the screen. The service fetches the content itself and passes it on.
One link to run the screen, one to preview
Live link for the screen
It plays the playlist and reports what has run. It needs no sign-in and has no expiry date.
Preview link for a quick look
It shows the same content but reports nothing. Colleagues or clients can view a campaign without it counting as a play.
Block at any time
You block and replace each link separately, for example after swapping a device. The old link then stops showing anything.
For SMIL devices too
Garlic, IAdea and AIO players get a separate SMIL address that the device fetches as its index.
Keeps playing when the network drops
Fallback schedule during outages
Web Player remembers the last valid schedule. If the computer starts without a connection, it keeps playing that schedule for up to 12 hours. Older schedules are deliberately not shown, so no expired advertising runs.
Content is preloaded
The player fetches the next images and videos in advance. The screen does not go black between items.
Only changes are downloaded
The schedule is only transferred again when something has changed. That saves bandwidth at the location.
No error messages in the shop window
If an item fails, the loop moves on. No error text appears on the customer-facing screen; you see notices outside kiosk mode.
Proof of play for sold advertising
Reports to DOOH Hub
When booked advertising from the DOOH Hub portal runs via the live link, Web Player reports every play with the time it actually ran. Filler content is not reported.
Nothing gets lost
If the location is offline, the browser keeps the reports for up to seven days and sends them later. They are only deleted once receipt is confirmed.
You can see what is still pending
The player list shows how many reports are still on their way and whether a player reports to DOOH Hub at all.
Is Web Player also part of AIO Hub?
Yes, there it is called the screen link. In AIO Hub every player can get a screen link that uses the Web Player technology. It is enabled per company and sits right on the player, so you do not need a second management console.
- Two addresses: with a toolbar for checking, and borderless for the screen.
- Every link is password-protected, either with your company's default password or with one per player.
- You can see which browser opened the link and when.
- A blocked link shows a neutral page without your logo.
Which devices does Web Player run on?
On any computer that drives a screen and has an up-to-date browser. We recommend Google Chrome or Chromium, because the start-up commands for autostart and kiosk mode are written for them.
-
Mini PC
A small computer behind the screen is enough. Once set up, it restarts by itself after a power cut and opens the link full screen.
-
Windows, macOS, Linux
For all three systems our setup guide covers autostart, screen saver, sound and clock.
-
SMIL players
Garlic, IAdea and AIO players fetch the player's SMIL address and play the playlist themselves.
-
Laptop and tablet
For a quick look, open the preview link in any modern browser, even on the go.
Need a dedicated player instead of a browser? There is the AIO Player app for Android and a separate Windows player. Both are controlled via AIO Hub.

Frequently asked questions
What is AIO Web Player?
AIO Web Player is a digital signage player that runs in a web browser. It fetches a playlist from your CMS and plays it full screen. It is developed and operated by Kapaso GmbH in Aying near Munich, Germany.
Do I need to install software on the screen?
No. All you need is a browser; we recommend Google Chrome or Chromium. So that the screen restarts by itself after a power cut, you set up autostart once. Our guide explains this for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Where does Web Player get its content?
From AIO Hub or the DOOH Hub advertising portal. You can also enter the address of any other system that delivers playlists in SMIL format.
What content can Web Player show?
Images, videos, web pages, PDFs and widgets. It splits the screen into multiple zones and follows the schedules and timed inserts in the playlist.
What is the difference between the live link and the preview link?
Both play the same playlist without signing in. The live link also reports what has run and belongs on the screen in the shop. The preview link reports nothing and is meant for viewing.
How do I get the playlist borderless and full screen?
Adding “?kiosk=1” to the link hides all toolbars on the page. For full screen without the browser bar, start Chrome with the “--kiosk” option, as described in our guide. To leave kiosk mode, tap the top left corner five times.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Web Player keeps playing the last valid schedule for up to 12 hours. After that it stops showing it, so no expired advertising runs. As soon as the connection is back, it fetches the current schedule.
Does Web Player report what has played?
Yes, for advertising from DOOH Hub. Via the live link it reports every play with the time it ran. During an outage the browser keeps the reports for up to seven days and sends them later.
How much does Web Player cost?
Web Player is included in every AIO Hub package. The Starter package for three screens costs €1,497 net for three years, which is €499 per screen. Business covers 10 screens for €3,990, and Pro covers 25 screens for €7,475. Unlimited, for any number of screens, costs a one-off €14,990.
Is Web Player also part of AIO Hub?
Yes. In AIO Hub it is called the screen link. Every player can get a password-protected link, with a toolbar or borderless.
